Shadow, Rook Floro, 2011

The art installation shows “two men”, one is sitting and undergoing meditation, and another one is standing, seems a shadow of the sitting man, and represents a reflection of him, the standing man represents your ‘shadow’, which involves your hidden desires to be different and become perfect of your mind. The man is sitting here shaping his ‘shadow’.” Moreover, whole scene is mostly black and white, gives me a sense of emptiness and depressed.

“I wish your wish.” Let’s make a wish and exchange it.

“I wish your wish.” Let’s make a wish and exchange it.

What would you ask for, if you could have just one wish come true?

”I wish” is a phrase that we usually use in our daily life like “I wish it wasn’t rain today.”  , “I wish I can get on train on time.” But what if we think deeply about what we really want, you would not wish for the better weather but the things that come more meaningful to you.

And those wishes may appear on collection “I Wish Your Wish” of the exhibition “ A Day Like Any Other ” by Rivane Neuenschwander.  “I Wish Your Wish” is an installation, which invited thousands of people to write down their wishes and print them on the colourful ribbons.

Yotsuya (TOKYO, 1997) by Daido MoriyamaYotsuya  (TOKYO, 1997) by Daido Moriyama

Yotsuya by Daido Moriyama, a Japanese photographer who is famous for black and white photos. He made mostly photos of landscapes, flowers, women and traditional ceremonies in Japan. The work I want to comment is a black-and-white photo taken in Tokyo in 1997.

The photo is mainly about a person at Yotsuya, a very famous and old place in Tokyo. In half of the picture, then the remaining parts are blacken. There is a fading from black to light then the half-face of the person. As it is a black and white photo, colours look cold and soft with strong noise that particles are clearly seen on the photo.

Art with skull

Art with skull

This skull is created by the artist, Mr Brainwash who like to create some pop art and also a filmmaker in Los Angeles. He likes to make street arts, spraying on the wall, drawing on the ground. Since he held his art show in 2008, he had been recognized by the public. This time, this artwork, Reborn was drawn by 9 colours for the main skull, who was originally the skull of Marilynn. Actually the artwork is not quite beautiful from my point of view. While, it can represent the “reborn” of Marilynn. It is because it shows the Marilynn clearly even if it is a skull or dead. When the public saw the yellow curvy hair with sharp red lips, it made us recognize who it is. While, if using skull as an artwork. It can fused with different element to make it more creative.
