Dog Star Man(1961-64)

During the fifties and sixties, there was the rise of the American avant-garde film. Some of the director focus to the exploring film techniques and the the possibility of presentation. Some of the director try to break the social and sexual taboos. Some of the director undertake the poetic tradition of experimental film an Stan Brakhage was the one of the filmmaker in this direction.
Stan Brakhage, was a non-narrative filmmaker. In 20th-century experimental film, he is reputed to be one of the most important figures. Dog Star Man(1961-64) is masterpiece of Stan Brakhage. In the film, there was expressing the state of the human being after leaving the society and civilization.

Yang Yongliang – Phantom Landscape

Yang Yongliang is a young artist from Shanghai who studied traditional Chinese art such as shui mo painting and calligraphy from his early age. His teacher was Yang Yang who is the professor of traditional art at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He combined the traditional Chinese paintings with the modern Shanghai city life and the details reveal current urban culture. The scenes of construction sites, large cranes, traffic signs and fly-overs those all Shanghai citizens are familiar with and all have become critical elements in his artworks. In the video of his artwork, all of the video footage is taken with bird’s-eye view of the various places he has been to. During the filming process, he discovered this point of view produces an unusual experience. The viewer can step back and look at the familiar places with a completely objective view. Lire l’article

Valerie Hegarty is a American artist who good at making art with something beautiful and decadent, and of course, making them unexpected. She’s work is characterized by canvases and antiques that have been burned, ripped, cracked, shot at or otherwise destroyed, maybe for Valerie Hegarty, the joy of her work lies in its destruction rather than its making. This work is made by Shen Shaomin, an artist based in Sydney and Beijing. He is an artist who uses real skeletons to make creatures. The creatures he made have very realistic appearance.

I discovered the above artwork – “I want to know what infinity is” at Hong Kong Art Fair 2012 which is located in Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre. The realistic old naked women was very eye-catching to attract people to surround and watch. There were many people around it so I have discovered the artwork. Lire l’article

This artwork called Canyon made by Robert Rauschenberg in 1959. When the first time I saw this artwork, the first attraction of my eyes is the real three-dimension which looks like a pillow. Weather could be seen and heard!

Urban Weather Prairies – Symphonic Studies by Nathalie Miebach

This installation art work is made by Nathelie Miebach in 2011. Nathalie Miebach’s is a sculptor who focuses on the intersection of art and science and the visual articulation of scientific observations.

In Urban Weather Prairies, Nathalie Miebach translates weather data collected from weather stations and by her own daily observations collected from a specific environment by using wind speed collector, thermometer etc into a sculpture . She collected data like air temperature, barometric pressure, and wave height etc and translate them into a three-dimensional vibrant, whimsical sculptures, it is about 16’ x 15’ x 15’ large and published in 2011. Not just the sculpture itself has meaning, but where this artwork place also has its own meaning, the wall space uses the rectangle as varies maps of Nebraska or urban centers of Nebraska.
