Title: “Unlock your voice” – art of voice
Format: moving installation
Nowadays, most of people are used to typing words through technological divides like “Whatsapp” and Facebook instead of speak face to face. It might cause more and more misunderstandings since words cannot explain things completely.
To enhance the advantages of sound, an installation about art of voice is appeared. Through use sound to create pictures, I hope that can encourage people speak more and more, as well as to build up a better relationship with the others.
Venue:
In a lorry (moving installation)
Drive without any destination, but only in Hong Kong
e.g. Hong Kong Disneyland
Pedestrian Street at Causeway

Darkened room x1 (size: 4mx2mx3m)(length x width x high)
Microphones x2

A set of drum x1
Helper x2 (to control situation) (will be changed in different situation)

How the installation work?
Cymatics which is the process of visualizing sound by vibrating a medium is going to use in this project. The microphones are aim to record audiences’ voice and the computers will response for the process of record sound. After the participators speaking through the sound receivers, the sound will be transformed to image and show on the screen.
The images consist of lines, dots and shape, which are the basic elements of a picture. Actually, the images depend on the sound intensity and amplitude which louder and higher voice will make dense space, and change the image in fast speed.
To make the installation present in a more interesting way, a set of drum will placed in the box trucks. People can vibrate the drum and see the visualizing sound.
